Introduction
Chinese
porcelains had been gleaming & shining in history and had become
one of the most brilliant products enjoying fame & reputation through
out the world. Quanzhou-Dehua had long been regarded as a capital
of the ancient porcelains in the Ceramic field, and has been famed
in the world for noted porcelains & her famours technicians.
The technology of Dehua in processing porcelains was mature in the
Tang dynasty. In the Song dynasty, under the favorable wind of the
Olanut Harbor, the fame of her porcelains had spread far & wide
over the Four Seas. Marco Polo, the Italian traveler had remarked
in praise of Dehua's porcelains as "Numerous & beautiful", which
had become more attractive as time rolled into Ming dynasty. The
"Ivory white" porcelain had become a dazzling pearl lighting up
the ceramic field of the world. Their engraving & sculpturing techniques
had been extolled as the "Oriental Venus". The glazed celadon, which
had its origin in the Ming dynasty & grew prosperous in the Qing
dynasty, had become a unique banner of the ceramic circles. Since
the founding of this Republic, the porcelains of Dehua glow in brilliancy
& splendor, with elite products coming out in a continual stream,
enhancing the beauty & glory of Dehua & exhibiting the attraction
of the ceramic circles.
The elite porcelains of Dehua are as voluminous as the floating
clouds. Precious porcelain like the "ivory white" had illuminated
the entire volume of the ceramic history; whereas "Jian White Porcelain"
& "Gao White Porcelain" are emitting brilliant dazzling lights in
modern ceramic circles. Recently some tens varieties of porcelains
had been emerging out such as: Jade porcelains, Gleaming Jade Porcelains
& Eggshell Porcelains, which had gained great honors & awards both
in national & international competitive exhibitions for over 160
times, displaying the race & beauty of the Dehua porcelains.
The ceramic engravings of Dehua are worth mentioning. Her target
materials are very extensive, from the heroic saviors to the commoners,
from the scouring beasts & flying fowls to wonderful flowers & miraculous
grasses. The pursuance & religious faith of the local people, their
happiness, fury, mourning & hilarity had all been engraved on the
porcelains. But the essence of Dehua ceramic engraving rests almost
entirely on figurines, which, the figurine engraving converged entirely
on the idol of Bodhisattva. Since the emergence of "Bodhisattva
He Lai ", the highest grade of her kind, at least over one hundred
diversities of this goddess of mercy have been turned out, each
idol has a peculiarity of her own, surpassing the ordinary work
of ordinary craftsmanship, constituting a harmonious union of motion
& quietness, just like the floating cloud or the flowing water,
similarity coupled with diversity, fully indulged in form & in spirit,
each attains the sublimely of her own.
After the super-craftsmanship of He Chao Zhong, who had been famed
for his porcelain engraving, an endless train of super-craftsmen
has been cropping up who gathered over the sky of the Ceramic history
to form the dazzling galaxy. At present, Dehua can boast of a train
of super-craftsmen such as: Xu Xing Tai, Yang Jian Min, Zhou Ya
Ge, Xu Xing Ze, Su Yu Feng, Kang Xin Lu, Li Guo Zhang, Su Qing He,
Qiu Shuang Jiong all are at the sublime of their lives; whereas
the new arising stars, such as: Ke Hong Rong, Chen Gui Yu, Xu Rui
Feng & Su Zhu Zhuang, they are just like the rising sun, full of
life, devoting their wisdom & intelligence to decorate this capital
of porcelains, Dehua, into a glittering city, attractive & fascinating.
